Wilson faculty and staff recognize that our first priority is, and always will be, the safety of our students. Because of this duty, we have several procedures in place designed to maintain that safety, some of which are noted below:
Fire Drills - Wilson students participate in a fire drill once per month. The first one is explained, practiced, and completed shortly after school begins. Subsequent fire drills are not announced, to provide faculty, staff, and students opportunities to practice while surprised.
Lock-Down Drills - Lock downs are practiced twice per year, once in the fall and once in the late winter or early spring. We always send notes home a day or two before these drills are performed so parents can help students understand why they are being done.
Hall-Check - These are practiced intermittently. Hall-checks are times when students must remain in classrooms but there is no immediate danger. They are an attempt to keep disruptions minimized, should something loud occur in or around the school.
